The IBPS calendar for the year 2017 has been uploaded and we are aware that the IBPS PO exam will take place in October 2017. Along with going through the rules and regulations, eligibility criteria and the entire selection procedure, you must also finalize your study plan for the upcoming exam.
For better preparation and a more strategic approach, team Edu-Drives has come up with the most important topics that you should be well-versed with before you appear for the IBPS PO Prelims 2017. These topics are the result of the analysis of previous years’ question papers and expert interviews. With the help of these topics, you will certainly prepare better and give due attention to the correct topics.
A total of 35 questions will be there in the IBPS PO prelims summing up to a total of 35 marks. The topics that require more focus are:
- Questions on seating arrangement and related puzzles –
A total of 2-3 sets of puzzles (i.e. 10-15 questions) and seating arrangement questions have been encountered in the previous years’ papers.
- Circular arrangement
- Floor based puzzle
- Linear arrangement
- Box based puzzles
From previous years’ experience, a total of 5 questions have been asked per paper.
- Inequality –
5 questions from inequality in the IBPS PO prelims are expected. For practicing a variety of questions in this domain, you can refer to our Pendrive course for SSC & Bank exams.
- Blood Relations, Direction, and Ranking based questions –
About 4-10 questions are expected to be asked in the IBPS PO prelims 2017 exam.
30 questions which carry a total of 30 marks are expected from this section. Following topics are important as observed:
- Reading Comprehension –
One can expect 10 questions in the IBPS PO prelims.
- Cloze Test –
About 5 Questions can be asked with respect to this.
- Spotting Errors –
You may come across 5-10 questions with respect to this domain.
- Para Jumbles –
You can expect 5 questions from here.
35 questions will be asked in this section and the total weightage in IBPS PO prelims would be 35 marks out of the total 100. Practice following topics of the syllabus –
- Number Series –
5 questions will be asked from here in the prelims.
- Quadratic Equations –
You can expect 5 questions from this area. Formulae and the factorization method are important.
- Simplification/ Approximation –
You can expect 5 questions in the prelims. BODMAS will be a strategic approach to attempt such questions.
- Data Interpretation –
You can expect at least 2 sets, i.e. 10 questions from this part. Tabular DI, line, bar and pie charts are the most important. Caselet, Missing and Mixed DI have been less popular in the previous years.
- Miscellaneous –
This would comprise of questions from Simple and Compound Interest, Age based problems, Profit, Loss and Discount, Mixture and allegation, Partnerships, Time, work and wages, boats and streams, probability etc. A total of 10 questions can be expected.
