RAILWAYS RRB ALL POSTS EXPLAINED

  1. RRB JE (Junior Engineer) Post

Any graduate, having a Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in any field in Engineering), between the age 18 to 25 is eligible to apply for this exam. Shortlisting of candidates is done through a process of Written Examination and a round of Personal Interview. The examination is an objective-based assessment consisting of the following four sections:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • General Awareness
  • Questions based on the technical subjects

Overall, the paper comprises of 200 questions and the candidates are allotted 2 hours to complete the assessment. There is also negative marking for wrong answers. All the candidates who successfully clear the cutoff for the written examination are called for the Personal Interview round, based on which the final result is decided.

  1. RRB SSE (Senior Section Engineer) Post

Any candidate who has completed a 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial engineering, Machining Instrumentation & Control engineering, Tools & Machining, Tools & Die making, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, M, Sc, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control Engineering from recognized University or Institute is eligible for this exam.

The shortlisting process and examination pattern for this post is almost same as for the Junior Engineer Post.

  1. RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) Post

For this post, candidates who have completed their SSC/Matriculation are eligible to apply. Also, the candidates should have the minimum age of 18 years to maximum age of 25 years. Shortlisting of the candidates would be done on the basis of their score in the written test and their interview.

The written examination is conducted in two stages. The first stage consists of the following sections:

  • Mathematics
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • General Science
  • General Awareness

However, the second stage consists of the following sections:

  • Mathematics
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • Basic Science and Engineering
  • General Awareness
  • Technical Subjects

Candidates who clear the cutoff for the written examination will be eligible for the interview round which will decide the final result.

  1. RRB NTPC (Non-Technical Posts)

This exam is conducted for non-technical posts like Commercial Apprentice, Goods Guard, Traffic Apprentice and Assistant, etc.

Shortlisting of candidates is done on the basis of a computer-based examination and an interview round. The exam consists of 100 questions, divided into the following sections:

  • General Knowledge
  • Arithmetic Ability
  • General Intelligence
  • General Science

Candidates have to clear this test in order to be eligible for the interview round which will decide the final result.
